Brain Wanted; Words Needed

How  do  you  operate  when  you’ve  left  your  brain  behind?
Behind  where?  Good  question.

That  is  today’s  conundrum  because  somehow  I’ve  managed  to  completely  overlook  that  a  year  ago  to  the  day  I  released  Sapphire’s  Divinity.  I’ve  forgotten  another  important  anniversary  in  my  book-filled  world.  So  it’s  obvious  that  I  have  no  functioning  brain  to  speak  of,  and  therefore  no  fun  and  giveaways  planned.  Boo.

But  I  do  have  something  to  offer  as  a  compromise.  A  teaser  from  book  4  of  the  Nature’s  Destiny  series.  This  is  probably  the  earliest  in  my  process  I’ve  ever  released  a  teaser –  I’m  literally  only  in  the  beginning  of  writing  this  beauty,  but  still  aiming  to  release  by  the  end  of  the  year.  Hang  tight,  my  werewolf-loving  friends.

Without  further  ado,  I  give  you  the  teaser  and  title  below.

Enjoy!

The  beast  taunted  me,  stalked  me  like  I  was  its  prey.  Its  coal-like  skin,  straight  from  the  mouth  of  hell,  sizzled  brightly  with  streaks  of  orange.  The  lava  of  its  home.  I  never  stood  a  chance  in  this  war,  I  was  one  wolf  against  an  army  of  demons;  they  kept  me  distracted  long  enough  to  ensure  there  was  nothing  I  could  do  to  jeopardise  their  hostile  takeover.  I  soon  learned  that  distraction  was  their  greatest  tactic,  their  only  worthwhile  weapon.  But  still,  there  were  little  acts  of  heroism  I  could  partake  in;  chained  and  bound  in  a  cage  granted  me  seldom  freedom.  I  was  the  hell  beasts’  toy,  to  scratch,  to  bite,  to  chase  when  dull  moments  had  them  bored.  Compared  to  my  torment,  I  was  sure  death  would  be  a  gift  as  inviting  as  a  freshly  picked  bouquet  of  flowers.  I  no  longer  wanted  to  endure  such  heinous,  criminal,  apocalyptic  affairs.

I  wished  for  death,  and  the  devil  laughed  in  my  face.

Binge Reading On A Reality Funk

When  I’m  not  in  the  throes  of  bashing  out  a  first  draft,  my  Sundays  are  often  spent  reading.  And  for  the  past  few  weeks  that’s  what  I’ve  been  doing,  all  because  I  fell  in  love  with  Cambria  Hebert’s  Hashtag  Series.  After  reading  all  four  of  those  books  in  just as  many  days,  I’ve  been  left  with  an  American  football  player-sized hole  in  my  heart.  Nothing  else  I  read  is  filling  that  gap  while  I  wait  for  the  fifth  book  to  be  released  later  this  month.  (YAY)  You  see,  I’ve  been  spoiled.  How  was  I  to  know  when  I  first  picked  up  #Nerd  that  I’d  fall  in  deep  down  the  fictional  tunnel?  The  characters  captivated  my  attention  so  badly  that  even  after  a  couple  of  weeks  I’m  still  not  ready  to  let  that  piece  of  me  go.  I’m  being  held  hostage.

I’m  positive  all  book  lovers  know  what  I’m  talking  about.  It’s  that  complete  euphoria  of  fulfillment  at  having  discovered  a  new  treasure.  We’re  all  literary  pirates  –  our  eyes  gleam  in  reflection  of  the  gold  sitting  pretty  in  our  hands.  Those  beautiful  covers  are  the  visual  enticement  to  our  addiction.  They  beg  to  be  read.

Writers  are  readers  whose  love  for  words  never  stop  at  the  last  page.  The  story  might  be  finished  but  the  writer  isn’t  done.  I’m  constantly  waking  up  with  complex  sentences  formulating  paragraphs  rolling  around  my  mind,  desperate  to  create  awe-inspiring  moments  for  like-minded  readers.  And  all  that  lexis  comes  from  somewhere.

Books.

To  learn.  To  nourish.  To  satisfy.

I’m  stuck  in  a  reading  binge  funk.  I  have  plenty  of  books  lined  up,  but  nothing’s  grabbing  my  attention.  I  have  to  be  in  the  right  mood  for  a  particular  genre.  Right  now,  I’m  stuck  in  New  Adult  land.  You  see,  it’s  that  hole  in  my  heart  that  needs  patching  up  with  new  words.  I  need  a  new  set  of  friends  while  my  others  are  on  hiatus.

So  here’s  what  I  want  to  know  from  you.  What  are  you  currently  reading?  What  genre  is  it?  And  what’s  your  absolute  favourite  book?  The  one  that  made  you  fall  in  love  with  reading. I  know  it’s  a  tough  question.  I  don’t  even  know  if  I  have  one  myself.

Announcement:  The  winners  of  Alpha  Wanted:  The  Complete  Serial  paperback  have  been  chosen.

I’ve  been  staring  at  the  screen  for  hours,  trying  to  determine  the  best  opening  line  for  this  blog  post,  but  my  brain  is  frazzled,  dead  to  any  and  all  words.  I’m  a  blank  dictionary  hiding  in  the  burnt  out  corner,  hoping  for  lexis  to  come  flooding  back  to  me.  It’s  exhausting,  isn’t  it?  Trying  to  find  the  right  thing  to  say  when  you’re  mentally  drained.  I  think  I  need  a  power  nap,  or  something  a  little  longer.  Is  it  too  early  in  the  year  to  go  into  hibernation?

This  month  I  have  a  treat  for  you  all.  While  I’m  suffering  with  airhead  syndrome,  it  hasn’t  escaped  my  attention  that  a  lot  of  you  are  anticipating  the  fourth  and  final  book  in  the  Nature’s  Destiny  series.  As  it’s  the  ONE  YEAR  ANNIVERSARY  for  this  hop,  I’m  going  to  share  with  you  the  first  few  lines  of  the  novel.  I’m  in  the  very  early  stages  of  creating  this  one,  but  I’m  still  aiming  for  a  release  this  year.  Please  bear  with  me!

“It’s  all  my  fault.”  I  stared  at  nothing,  blind  to  the  gravestone  I  knew  was  in  front  of  me.  The  rain  catapulted  from  the  sky,  splashing  down  on  the  ground  around  me.

“You’re  gone,  and  it’s  all  my  fault.”  I  sobbed  into  my  cold  hands,  my  body  heaving  with  motion.  I  cried  harder,  my  throat  sore  from  the  lump  that  had  been  building  with  each  tear.

Water  dripped  from  my  hair  and  face  on  to  my  already  soaked  clothes.  I  was  drenched  to the  bone,  my  arse  numb  from  sitting  in  the  middle  of  the  pack’s  lonely  graveyard  for  hours.  My  burden,  my  despair  had  brought  me  here.

“I  tried,  Lara.  I  tried  so  fucking  hard  to  get  to  you!”

Giveaway coming at you in 3…2…1

Hey Wolves!

It’s been a while since we last got the pack together and howled at the moon, which oddly enough has worked in my favour because I’m pretty sure there’s a full one headed our way tonight. I’d like to say I worked that transition smoothly into this text, but honestly it’s just excellent coincidence. Or I’m psychic. You choose.
Back in March/April I released the three parts of my serial Alpha Wanted into Amazon’s KU programme, meaning it wasn’t available anywhere else. But GOOD NEWS! The 90-day period is almost up on all three parts (3 comes out next week) so they’re no longer limited to one platform. Sidenote: This change has nothing to do with the updated 2.0 version of KU that came into effect yesterday. Again, it’s just a happy coincidence. Or I’m a prophet. Anyway…
What better way to celebrate this change, than with a PAPERBACK giveaway?
FullSizeRender (13)<<– Seriously, you can’t have a sad face when you’re holding a book with a naked, rippled man on the cover, and I’m giving you the chance to test it out for yourself. If you can frown with that brawn hotness literally sitting in the palm of your hand, then you need help. You can try chomping on his arm for a funny photo if you like, I know I did – my attempt just didn’t look goofy enough to publicly humiliate myself with though. Sorry not sorry.

So, what are the terms for entering this giveaway?

Reviews. That’s it, no catch. Leave a review for any part of Alpha Wanted across Amazon, B&N, iBooks, Kobo (when they get their finger out and update their system), Smashwords and Goodreads. Hell, even a blog if you have one. Or a vlog for that matter! It can be a sentence long or a couple of paragraphs, that’s entirely up to you. Just make sure you send me the links so I can count your entry.

Now let’s talk about those entry numbers. With every review you leave, your name will be added to the pot. For example, if you read parts 1, 2 & 3 and review every book on Amazon, that’s 3 entries. Now add those to Goodreads too and you’ve got 6 entries. Leave them across all platforms and you’ve got 18 (21 if you include a blog) entries. Remember to send me ALL the links or I won’t know! BUT your Goodreads and blog entries won’t count if you haven’t added them to a retail site. And while I remember you can even add your review to the complete serial paperback version on Amazon too. Go ahead, I’m not stopping you. Sidenote: Part 2 is updating into B&N, iBooks and Kobo as we speak, should be there in a day or two, and Part 3 at the end of next week. All parts are ready at Amazon.

To sweeten the deal Alpha Wanted: Part 1 is currently FREE at Amazon,Smashwords, iBooks, B&N. Hopefully Kobo will join in on the act soon as well, he’s being a party pooper right now.

Closing date: 2nd August 2015. You have one month, Wolves.
What are you waiting for? Grab your FREEBIE and start entering today. Oh, did I mention I have TWO SIGNED copies up for grabs? No?

You’re welcome. And feel free to let your packmates in on the deal. The more family in our circle, the better.

And remember, the more entries you have, the greater chance you have at winning.

Good luck!
I’ll see you all for full moon activities later.
Arrroooooo!

Good morning  you  sexy  bunch!  I  hope  you’re  holding  on  to  your  underwear  because  it’s  TEASER  day!  And  boy,  oh,  boy,  do  I  have  a  spicy  little  sneak  peek  for  you.  Grayson  Rush  is  back  and  his  story  has  a  title.  So,  keep  an  eye  out  for  WICKED  SUNSHINE  coming  later  this  year.  Even  the  sequel  has  a  title,  but  I’ll  save  that  for  the  back  mattter  of  this  novel.  😉

Anyway,  who’s  up  for  seeing  some  more  of  our  resident  arrogant  arsehole?

“Creating  pleasure,”  I  say,  watching  Maya’s  eyes  widen  with  a  little  bit  of  shock.

“That’s  your  company’s  motto?  It  sounds  like  a  review  title  for  a  porno.”

My  smile  widens  at  her  obvious  discomfort.  “Everything  I  do  caters  to  society’s   need  to  feel  good.  Drinking.  Exercising.  Partying.  Holidays.  It’s  all  legal.  It  makes  people  happy.  And  there’s  no  better  return  on  investments  than  pleasure.  I  give  it.  I  take  it.  I  make  it.”  I  drip  my  voice  with  heavy  seduction,  lowering  my  tone  to  drive  her  wild.

She  visibly  swallows,  that  small  movement   lets  me  know  she  isn’t  totally  unaffected  by  me.  Thank  fuck  for  that,  because  my  dick  is  choking  on  my  boxers  at  even  the  smallest  thought  of  having  her.

“Is  there  anything  else  you  want  from  me?”

Sex  on  the  table?  “That’s  all  for  now.”

As always,  don’t  forget  to  check  out  these  authors  also  participating  in  a  little  teaser  action. Ooh,  it’s  a  saucy  Thursday!

Meet Grayson Rush

On  Friday,  I  promised  to  release  a  snippet  into  my  current  project  providing  Grayson,  my  main  character,  behaved  and  gave  me  my  word  count.  He  didn’t.  Yet  here  I  am  still  rewarding  him.  I  guess  I’m  just  as  bad  for  enabling  his  sins.

So,  who  is  Grayson  Rush?

He’s  a  bad  boy  billionaire  looking  to  expand  his  empire  whilst  maintaining  all  his  other  business  ventures.  He’s  a  hardworking  man  that  enjoys  the  stress-relief  of  good-looking  women.  Plural.  And  he’s  not  after  love;  that  takes  too  much  of  his  precious  time.  But  as  womanizingly  manwhoreish as  he  is,  he  also  has   a  few  redeeming  qualities –  his  sense  of  humour,  and  the  kindness  that’s  buried  deep  down  in  his  heart.  Deep,  deep  down.  Remember  that.

Anyway,  this  novel  is  all  through  his  viewpoint,  so  it’s  filled  with  filthy  man-talk.  You  know,  just  so  you’re  warned  beforehand.  If  that  sounds  like  your  kind  of  guy,  then  keep  on  reading.

Enjoy!

“Good  morning,  Mr.  Rush.”

“Olivia,”  I  acknowledge  my  secretary  as  I  enter  the  top  floor  of  Rush  Tower  that  houses  only  my  office.  “What  have  we  got  going  on  today?”  I  ask  as  she  hovers  beside  me,  clearly  something  is  on  her  mind.

“Your  afternoon  appointment  with  Enhance  Graphics  and  Design  has  been  moved  to  this  morning.  Now,  in  fact.”

I  raise  my  brow,  keen  to  meet  the  person  with  enough  guts  to  rearrange  my  busy  schedule.  “Have  they  been  waiting  long?”  I  ask.

“No,  sir.  Just  a  few  minutes.  I  have  her  in  the  conference  room  for  you.”

“Thank  you,”  I  appraise,  flashing  the  grey-haired  woman  my  warmest  smile  as  I  head  toward  my  office  to  unload  and  prepare.  “Hold  my  calls  until  I’m  done.”

These  days,  loyal,  hard-working  assistants  are  hard  to  find.  Most  think  it’s  their  best  opportunity  to  screw  me  by  applying  for  one  of  my  jobs,  but  the  truth  is  any  girl  on  the  street  has  a  far  greater  chance  of  that  happening.  Workplace  fucks  never  happen.  It’s  my  number  one  rule.  I  can’t  afford  to  mess  business  up  with  pleasure.  Lawsuits,  remember?  They’d  kill  me.  Never  mind  the  work  that  would  never  get  done,  brain  cells  can  be  a  bit  lacking  sometimes.  Fuck,  that  was  a  nice  way  for  me  to  put  it.  What  I  mean  is,  they’re  all  fucking  dumb.

So  when  Olivia  entered  my  doors,  dressed  conservatively  elegant  for  her  older  age,  I  had  no  qualms  that  this  would  be  the  woman  with  only  an  agenda  to  work  on  her  mind.  And  fuck  me  was  I  right.  She’s  brilliant.

As  I  hang  my  coat  on  the  rack  in  my  office,  I  consider  using  the  effective  power-shifting  tool  of  making  my  appointment  wait  a  little  longer.  I  told  you,  I’m  all  about  control.  I’m  the  one  in  charge.

If  I  let  one  client  rearrange  my  schedule  then  it  sets  the  precedent  for  others,  and  I’ve  worked  too  damn  hard  to  be  at  another’s  beck  and  call.  But  I’m  also  a  professional.  So  in  the  thirty  seconds  it  takes  for  me  to  have  a  to-and-fro  battle  in  my  mind  of  how  this  would  play  out,  I decide  to  cut  to  the  chase  and  get  on  with  the  reason  I  called  for  the  meeting  in  the  first  place.

I  straighten  my  jacket,  pull  on  my  stony  business  face,  and  head  towards  the  conference  room.

By  the  time  I  reach  the  glass  doors,  I’m  afforded  the  chance  of  checking  her  out  without  her  knowing.  She’s  staring  out  the  windows,  glaring  at  the  view  of  London’s  famous  landmarks.  Big  Ben.  Westminster.  London  Eye.

When  I’ve  eventually  had  my  fill  of  her  scrumptious  arse  and  bare  legs  that  are  accentuated  by  the  delicious  four-inch  heels  she’s  wearing,  I  clear  my  throat  to  announce  myself,  but  even  as  the  words  leave  my  mouth  I’m  lost  inside  the  most  enchanting  jade  green  eyes.

Call  it  what  you  will  –  lust,  attraction,  desire  –  I  know  I’m  in  fucking  trouble.  The  number  one  rule  I  swore  to  myself  just  minutes  ago  already  has  me  crippling  with  hatred.  Fucking  rules.

And  that’s  just  her  eyes.  I  take  her  in  entirely,  and  I’m  impressed.  No,   more  than  that.  I’m  a  bloody  animal  that  wants  to  press  her  bare  cheeks  up  against  the  glass  window  and  fuck  her  brains  out  until  all  she  remembers  is  the  raw  pleasure  I  give  her.  Over  and  over.

Her  lips  are  full,  begging  to  be  kissed.  Her  tits,  though  concealed  in  a  smart,  hot-pink  dress,  are  bigger  than  my  hands.  And  those  sweet  long  legs  look  even  better  up  close.

I’m  fucked.

Cursed.

Punished.

This  is  what  I  get  for  being  a  sexually  active  man.  A  boner  for  forbidden  fruit.

“Mr.  Rush,  pleasure  to  meet  you.”

Oh,  it  will  be.

“I’m  Maya  Kennedy,  Enhance’s  junior  designer.”

I  blink,  and  blink  again.  Junior?  I  call  for  an  important  meeting  with  a  new  company  and  they  send  me  a  fucking  junior?

“Is  this  a  joke?”  I  ask,  wondering  what  the  girl’s  gain  is  in  wasting  my  time.  She  rearranges  my  day  for  this?

She   sputters  as  if  offended.  “Not  at  all,  Mr. Rush.  My  boss  asked  that  I  come  in  her  stead.  She’s  out  with  food  poisoning.”

I  scrutinise  her,  knowing  she’s  seeing  the  dark  danger  in  my  eyes.  Many  have  faltered  under  my  gaze,  yet  she  seems  unaffected.  Clearly  she  isn’t  intimidated,  and  neither  is  she  falling  head-over-heels  in  love  with  me.

Oh,  good  god.  It’s  finally  happened.  I’ve  lost  it.  You  know,  the  it  that  makes  me  dangerously  alluring.  The  it  that  makes  businessmen  I  compete  with  squirm.

WHAT  THE  FUCK  IS  GOING  ON?!

“My  qualifications  and  creative  mind  far  succeed  my  job  title,  Mr.  Rush.  I  wouldn’t  be  so  quick  to  walk  me  out  the  door.”  She  crosses  her  arms  over  her  chest,  and  the  movement  alone  is  enough  to  distract  me  for  a  few  seconds.

What?  She’s  the  one  encouraging  me  to  look.  Don’t  tell  me  women  don’t  do  that  on  purpose  to  distract  us  men  long  enough  to  agree  to  whatever  it  is  they  want.  It’s  one  of  their  womanly  powers.

And  it  works,  because  I  can’t  remember  what  it  is  we  were  talking  about  when  all  I’m  thinking  about  is  having  my  cock  wrapped  in  her  tit  sandwich  for  lunch.

Yummy.

“Mr.  Rush,  are  you  really  so  snobbish,  you’d  readily  disregard  what  I  can  do  for  you  and  your  company  without  the  grace  of  assessing  a  simple  mock-up  beforehand?”

I  smirk  at  her  boldness,  liking  her  confidence.  Of  course,  I  won’t  tell  her  that.  I  like  this  fire  in  her.

“Please,  sit  down,  Ms  Kennedy.”  I  extend  my  hand  to  one  of  the  many  seats  along  the  long  conference  table,  eager  to  have  her  in  my  company,  questioning  my  every  word.

Christ,  she’s  fucking  gorgeous.

She  stares  dubiously,  no  doubt  assessing  my  intention.  When  she  sits,  I  take  it  I’ve  passed  her  test  for  now,  and  settle  in  a  seat  opposite  her.

“So,  what  can  Enhance  Graphics  and  Design  do  for  you,  Mr.  Rush?”

I  have  to  hand  it  to  her,  she’s  remaining  professional  no  matter  what  she  already  thinks  of  me.  And  I  know,  based  on  her  distance,  that  she  has  strong  opinions  about  me.  Which  is  fine  for  now,  I’ll  make  sure  I’ve  changed  her  mind  about  me  by  the  time  the  job  is  done.

Then,  business  will  be  over,  and  the  all-night  pleasure  party  can  begin.

By now you know what it means when the 11th of each month comes about. It’s all about tantalisingly teasing you with snippets from projects in the works and published ones, too. This month I have a teaser from Alpha Wanted:Part 2, the serial that as of yesterday is out in its entirety. Oh, and did I mention part 1 is FREE on Amazon for a few days only? Though I know this teaser is longer than the proposed seven lines, I couldn’t stop myself from revealing it all. Also, this happens to be taken from one of Ryker’s POV chapters. Enjoy!

“I  just  gave  up  my  shirt  to  save  you.   You  could  be  more  of  a  gentleman  about  it  you  know.”  Kira  folded  her  arms  across  her  chest,   but  I  could  see  the  approval  in  her  eyes.  She  liked  the  way  I  stared  appreciatively.

“Oh,  you  mean  to  save  me  from  the  wound  I  incurred  by  saving  you?”  I  counter  balanced,  batting  my  eyes.

“So,  chivalrous  one  minute,  and  pervert  the  next?”

“I  like  to  think  I’m  well  rounded.”  I  stood,  wobbling  ever  so  slightly  as  I  fought  to  find  my  balance.  “I’m  okay,”  I  said  as  she  hurried  to  hold  onto  me,  wrapping  my  arm  around  her  shoulders.  “Just  watch  out  for  the  trip  wire  next  time,”  I  joked.

“It’s  all  your  fault  anyway.  You  distract  me  too  much,”  she  berated,  heading  into  the  apartment.

I  shook  my  head.  “Says  the  woman  walking  around  half  naked.”    How  was  a  man  to  concentrate  when  the  temptation  of  a  goddess  stood  before  him?

Alpha Wanted 2 OTHER SITES

Now that Hunter’s been accused of murdering the panther shifter, Kira faces the confusion of whom she should trust. Ryker, the Alpha easily winning her  heart, or Harvey, her long-time partner at P.D.S.I.S

Whilst she follows the evidence, Ryker proves himself as an asset, saving her from injury when her mind is otherwise occupied.

As the case demands more of their time together, the unmistakeable chemistry between them reaches boiling point.

Can Ryker persuade Kira he’s just what she needs or will her appreciation for professionalism keep them apart?

**WARNING! This is part 2 of a 3-part serial. The story expands through each part where it’ll eventually conclude in part 3. Nothing is resolved until then. Due to mature content readers are advised to be 17/18+**
