Alpha Wanted: Part 2 is OUT!

The serial continues…

Last week I released part 1 of my latest project. Today, part 2 is gracing the electronic shelves at Amazon. If you haven’t read part 1 yet, then I advise you don’t read the blurb further on. I hate to spoil it for you! Here’s all you need to know. The cover. The blurb. And the buy link.

Alpha Wanted 2 OTHER SITES

Now that Hunter’s been accused of murdering the panther shifter, Kira faces the confusion of whom she should trust. Ryker, the Alpha easily winning her  heart, or Harvey, her long-time partner at P.D.S.I.S

Whilst she follows the evidence, Ryker proves himself as an asset, saving her from injury when her mind is otherwise occupied.

As the case demands more of their time together, the unmistakeable chemistry between them reaches boiling point.

Can Ryker persuade Kira he’s just what she needs or will her appreciation for professionalism keep them apart?

**WARNING! This is part 2 of a 3-part serial. The story expands through each part where it’ll eventually conclude in part 3. Nothing is resolved until then. Due to mature content readers are advised to be 17/18+**

You might know that patience is something I suck at, so when I finished formatting this beauty I didn’t want to have to wait another week or two before revealing it. I’m ready for you to read it, so why wait? It’s an Amazon only deal this time as I’m trying out their Kindle Unlimited programme. For now, anyway. Here’s all the juicy stuff you need to know. The cover and synopsis, plus that all-important buy link. Oh, did I mention it’s only .99c/99p? And of course, it’s free in KU. Part 2 will be released a week today (April 3rd), and part 3 a week later (April 10th).
Feel free to spread the word to all your friends.
Happy Reading!

When the Director of P.D.S.I.S assigns Kira the task of recruiting Ryker to the agency, conflict soon compromises the logistics of an easy case.

Killing Elevates Me

I  like  it  when  they  squirm.  Twisting,  writhing  on  my  table  while  they  fight  their  way  out  of  this  nightmare.  It  makes  it  all  the  more  exciting,  more  rewarding  when  I  slice  them  open.

The  pretty  ones  are  my  favourite.  They scream  the  most,  terrified  I’ll  mess  up  their  beauty.  It  doesn’t  cross  their  minds  that  they  won’t  be  making  it  out  alive.  Not  until it’s  too  late.  Brains  really  do  suffer  for  beauty.

They’re  not  the  brightest  victims.  That’s  what  makes  them  such  easy  targets.  And  I’m  a  master  at  disguise.  No  one  sees  me  coming.

They  always  beg,  whimpering  as  they  plead  to  be  let  go.  Their  dying  urges  fuel  my  habit,  increasing  the  euphoria  as  judge  and  jury.  They  worship  me,  give  me  life.

I  am  God.

She  lay  on  the  cold,  metal  table,  arms  and  legs  cuffed.  Her  lean  body’s  stripped  bare,  gracing  me  with  a  view  of  what  will  soon  be  mine.  I  take  what  I  want.  She’ll  give  me  what  I  need.

When  her  eyes  open,  and  the  chloroform  wears  off,  the  instant  terror  radiating  from  her  body  produces  a  scent  like  no  other.  It nourishes  me,  cloaks  my  skin  in a  layer  of  fear,  reminding  me  that  I  am  the  evil  one.  Shit,  it  feels  good!

I  gather  my  tools,  using  the  natural  dim  light  of  the  abandoned  building  to  guide  me.  Scalpel.  Saw.  Clamps.  I’m  ready  to  go.

“Are  you  a  screamer?”  I  ask,  knowing  the  light  is  glistening  my  already  sparkling  eyes.

I  can  tell  she’s  surprised  by  the  sound  of  my  voice.  They  always  are.  I  move  into  her  line  of  sight,  letting  her  see  me  entirely,  and  remove  the  duck  tape  keeping  her  quiet.

This  is  my  routine.  Hearing  the  waffle  of  their  last  breaths  enriches  my  soul  like  a  hearty  meal  on  a  snowy  day.

“You’re  a  woman?”

I  roll  my  eyes.  Every  time  it’s  the  same  first  sentence.  I  battle  every  day  for  notoriety  amongst  my  male  successors.  They  never  learn  that  I’m  better.

Ten  years and  they  still  haven’t  a  clue  at  what  I’ve  been  doing.  I  told  you.  I’m  the  master.  God.

I  put  on  my  apron,  covering  my  own  naked  body.  I  work  hard  for  my  physique,  I  like  that  it’s  the  last  thing  they  see.

“Wh-wh-why  are  you  doing  this?”

I  let  her  ramble,  choosing  my  tool.  When  she  realises  I  won’t  provide  an  answer  the  thrashing  begins.  Up  and  down,  left  to  right  she  goes.

She  pants  uncontrollably,  her  heart  rate’s  elevated,  her  blood’s  pumping  vigorously.  And  it  turns  me  on.

I  enjoy  the  ride,  savouring  the  images  for  later  when  I  have  time  to  play.

I  take  the  saw  and  hold  onto  her  hand,  spreading  her  fingers  as  I cut  through  bone.  The  moment  the  blade  pierces  through  skin  her  cries  fill  the  room.  Shouting  until  all  she  can  muster  is  a  croak.  Her  bones  crunch,  the  sound  echoes.  Blood  squirts  on  the  table,  dripping  to  the  floor.

Once  her  finger  severs  completely,  I  pick  it  up,  holding  it  to  her  face.  Tears  cover  her  pale  cheeks,  the  fight  leaves  her  eyes.  Now  she  knows  she  can  only  watch.

I  sniff  her  finger,  inhaling  the  aroma  of  raw  flesh  and  tangy  blood.  “Bon  appetit!”  I  say,  smiling  devilishly  as  her  eyes  grow  wide.  I  bite  into  her  digit,  enjoying  the  nourishment  feeding  my  body  and  mind.

She’s  tastier  than  the  others,  and  I  know  I’ve  found  myself  a  real  treat.

I  take  my  time,  nibbling  my  way  right  to  the  bone,  picking  it  clean.  While  I  think  of  my  plans  to  devour  her,  she  speaks,  her  voice  barely  above  a  whisper.  “You’re  a  monster!”

I  grab  the  scalpel,  leaning  over  her  body  until  our  chests touch.  “No,  darling.  I’m  God,  and  you’re  sacrificing  yourself  to  me.”

Nature’s Destiny Anniversary & Giveaway

March 14th officially marks 1 year since Nature’s Destiny published. 1 year!

I can’t believe how fast the time has gone, and that I’ve published two more books in the series since. I’m flabbergasted, and so utterly grateful to all of you for supporting me through the clunky first year. As a way of giving back, and acknowledging this milestone I’ve thought up a fun, creative giveaway for you all.

If you’ve read Guardians Dynasty, book 3 in the Nature’s Destiny series, then you may have read the note that says book 4 will be the last. For now, anyway. But I need your help. I’m going to be introducing a new character, and I need a name. So here’s the fun part.

It’s a two part process to make your entry count. Part 1: Sign up to my newsletter here. Simple, right?  Now for part 2: I need to read your entry. I’m looking for a first name. The character will be referred to by this name all the time. No last name. It can be your name. It can be completely creative. It can come from a baby names book. It’s up to you. Go crazy. Have fun. Then comment on this post with your entry, or email it to me at (justinewinter@hotmail.co.uk), and in a week’s time (21st) I’ll randomly pick a winner, and credit you in the acknowledgements in book 4.

Oh, and there’s no limit to how many times you supply a name as long as it’s done before the 21st!

Speak soon.

I was dying.

Every minute I wasted without a mate, my mind became more volatile. I was unbalanced, stronger than I was capable of handling alone.

Supposedly, I was destined for greatness, but apparently I had to overcome another task first.

A mating.

Riley was my one true love. I was sure. However, that didn’t necessarily mean I was his. Complications, it seemed, were becoming my forte.

Despite my personal problems, the demons emerged, offering little hope and even less mercy. With my mind preoccupied, I wasn’t ready for the attack heading our way.

The pack needed me now more than ever, but the demons were cunning, thwarting my plans and upping the stakes each time.

I was letting them down. We weren’t ready. I wasn’t ready.

Darkness descended on Nature’s Destiny, and sadness was sure to come.

War had begun.

Nature’s Destiny Paperback Giveaway

It’s giveaway time!

What better way to celebrate my birthday, Halloween, bonfire night and Christmas than with a giveaway? Or, you know, any other reason you can think of…

I’m a sucker for this time of year; I absolutely love it. The colder, darker, longer nights, the necessary need for hot chocolate, and everything relates to Christmas. The food, films, music, family time, and the inspiration that always comes to mind – watch out for a project I’m working on coming this time next year. Until the end of December 2014, I’m hosting a giveaway via Goodreads for a SIGNED paperback of Nature’s Destiny, the first book in my Werewolf series. Enter here

Nature’s Destiny Teaser

There wasn’t a need for talk as I watched the sky. It was a dark, navy colour and it shone with the many stars that twinkled above me. Captivating from the get-go, I settled to enjoy the peace and quiet. Who knew what I’d be facing in the future?
Riley’s even breathing held a steady rhythm that lulled and hypnotized me. It was completely tranquil. I decided to rest my eyes for a few minutes, and tightened my hold on his shirt.
I drifted off into a dreamless sleep, and stirred a few minutes later.
   “Getting sleepy, sweetheart?” he asked.
I nodded, and attempted to get up.
   “Where are you going?”
“We should probably go back, right?” I asked.
“No, we can stay here if you want. Inside or outside, it’s up to you,” he said, as he motioned for me to settle down in his arms again. I did without complaining. I liked it here.
“Won’t we get cold?”  I asked. As warm as I was, I was unsure if the drop in temperature was going to affect us.
“Shhh. Stop worrying, there’s a blanket inside if we need it. Close your eyes my beautiful Luna, I will take care of you.”
I did as I was told, sneaking one last look at the stars. My destiny written all over them.
   “Riley?”
   “Mmm?”
“Do you think the prophecy, my destiny, is exactly what you were told?”
“Destiny is what we make through the choices life gives us. The future isn’t promised, which is why we make each day count. Live for you, not because of what’s expected of you. We don’t judge, we protect. That’s family, and that’s pack. And I will always be here for you, Luna. We’ll get through this together.” He kissed the top of my head and tightened his arms around me.
My choices had been taken away from me the day I was turned. Since then I’d followed orders. I wasn’t me anymore, I was the person I was always supposed to become. Special.
It didn’t matter what everyone thought. I was going to protect my pack, especially Riley. Nothing was going to stop me from giving him the happiness he deserved. Even if that meant war.

Living Funny; Dying Clumsy

Have  you  ever  been  to  a  pamper  evening?  You  know,  the  kind  that  treats  your  flaws,  and  makes  you  feel  better  about  them?

Well,  you  know  me.  I’m  good  for  making  a  laugh  out  of  any  situation,  I’m  good  for  making  others  happy.  Well,  life  would  be  dull  without  it.  Right?

That’s  what   I  thought,  until  I  made  a  complete  fool  of  myself.  I  know  what  you’re  thinking,  why  should  you  be  surprised?

Okay,  so  do  you  want  to  hear  what  happened  this  time?  Yeah,  I  know.  Of  course  you  do,  you  nosy  bugger.  You  need  a  laugh,  right?  Well,  let  me  entertain  you!

What’s  the  first  thing  you  check  out  at  these  events?  For  me,  it’s  cake.  Always  the  cake.  Have  you  ever  mistaken  soap  for  cake?  Trust  me,  you  don’t  want  to.

I’ve  had  the  busiest  day,  keeping  my  mind  from  straying  to  my  thoughts,  because  thinking  meant  Drew,  and  Drew  meant  depression.  I’m  ready  to  be  over  that.  Fintio.  Sayonara.  Au  Revoir.

So,  I’ve  been  busy,  working  without  eating  when  I’m  being  roped  into  coming  here.  Oh,  the  things  we  do  for  friends.

My  stomach  hasn’t  stopped  gurgling  for  the  past  few  hours,  berating  me  for  ignoring  it.  So,  the  moment  I  burst  through  the  doors  I’m  rushing  towards  the  cake  stand.  I  need  something  to  eat,  and  I  barge  my   way  across  all  the  stalls.  I  pay  without  thinking,  something  I’ve  done  real  well  all  day,  unseal  the  wrapper  and  take  a  bite,  before  I  spit  every  last  morsel  across  the  packed  hall  floor.

I’m  rushing  for  water.

BIG  MISTAKE!

My  mouth  is  foaming  like  I’m  a  rabid  squirrel.  My  eyes  are  watering  like  I’ve  bitten  an  onion.

No,  this  is  worse  than  that,  and  EVERYONE  is  staring.

Here’s  a  little  lesson  ladies,  never  mistake  a  fancy  bath  bomb  for  a  cupcake  even  if  it  looks  like  it.

That  shit  sucks.  Trust  me.

You  know  the  old  saying  ‘Don’t  talk  dirty  or  I’ll  wash  your  mouth  out  with  soap?’  Yeah,  I’d  fear  that  sentiment  from  now  on.  The  burn  in  your  nose  isn’t  worth  it,  so  bottle  that  cockiness  for  another  day.  You  can  thank  me  later.

Foam  party  for  one,  you  say?  Well,  I  guess  I  can  cross  that  off  my  bucket  list.

Check!

P.S  It  isn’t  fun  when  you  wake  in  the  middle  of  the  night  because  a  hidden  sud  has  popped,  and  is  oozing  a  soapy  trail  for  you  to  ingest.  Again.  Just  in  case  you  forgot  how  stupid  you  were  the  first  time.  Nice  one,  Lib.

Poor  Liberty’s  been  at  it  again,  and  I’m  sure  this  isn’t  the  last  of  her  conundrums.  Stay  tuned  for  more  in  Living  Funny;  Dying  Clumsy.  And  if  you  need  to  catch  up,  check  out  the  category  tab  to  the  right  for  previous  posts.

Seven 11 Blog Hop

Seven 11 blog hop

Blimey!  My  days  are  so  busy  melding  into  one  another  that  if  it  wasn’t  for  an  email  late  last  night  I’d  have  forgotten  that  today  is  in  fact  the  11th  October.  You  know,  that  time  of  the  month  when  I,  amongst  others,  share  7  lines  of  our  WIP.  Here’s  what  I  have  to  offer  today  from  Guardians  Dynasty  (Nature’s  Destiny  #3).  Oh,  and  before  I  forget  there’s  some  great  giveaways  going  this  month  that  you’ll  want  to  check  out,  too.  😉

I  faced  the  burning  ashes  of  the  land  I  once  called  home,  dying  with  every  breath  that  left  my  body.  Black  was  all  that  remained  for  my  vision  had  lost  its  affinity  to  colour.  The  creatures  brought  an  indefinite  darkness  that  was  only  ever  highlighted  by  the  raging  red  of  fire.  The  sun  no  longer  existed,  replaced  by  the  moon  for  the  people  to  suffer.  Skin  grew  paler,  death  came  quicker

My  wolf  and  I  missed  those  of  our  kind,  for  the  companionship  only  a  wolf  could  provide,  for  the  ties  of  a  family  bond,  for  the  purpose  of  a  pack.

It  was  at  such  a  time  as  this  when  I  was  at  my  nose-to-the-floor  weakest,  when  an  angel  appeared  from  the  sky.

Giveaways:

Living Funny; Dying Clumsy

Life  is  unfair.  Have  I  ever  told  you  that?

It’s  hard  to  keep  up  the  happiness  when  an  overload  of  negativity  destructs  your  day.  It’s  like  the  components  of  a  bomb  gathering  together  ready  to  detonate  on  your  life.

Reality  sucks.

Whatever  I’ve  tried  to  do  in  the  past  when  it  comes  to  Drew,  I’ve  fucked  up.  And  after  I  spent  the  night  in  hospital  having  my  broken nose  fixed,  I’ve  decided  that  I’m  done.

Finito.

I  can’t  take  the  pain  and  embarrassment  anymore.  My  shopping  bills  are  filled  with  receipts  for  plasters,  bandages  and  paracetamol.  I’m  physically  ruined,  and  mentally  depressed.  I’ve  finally  given  up.  Enough  is  enough.

There’s  not  much  I  can  tell  you  about  Drew  anymore  except  he  left  his  job.  And  I  wouldn’t  be  surprised  if  it’s  to  get  away  from  my  stalker-like  tendencies.  I  don’t  blame  him.  He  was  quick  to  leave  when  I  broke  my  nose.  I  guess  he  decided  he  didn’t  want  our  second  date  after  all.

You  see,  I’m  a  mess.  A  snot-filled,  chocolate-stained,  crumpled-hair,  bed-ridden  mess.

Like  I  said,  reality  sucks.  And  life  is  definitely  unfair.

After  a  year  of  slumming  it  on  buses,  I  promise  myself  it’s  time  for  a  change.  I  need  a  change,  something  to  be  excited  about  again.

What  do  I  do?

I  buy  myself  a  car.  A  brand  new,  shiny-looking  car  that  still  has  that  wonderful  smell.  And  it  makes  me  feel  amazing.

For  a  day.

Why?

Because  life  is  unfair.  Are  you  getting  it  yet?

I’m  being  pulled  over  for  speeding.  The  offence?  42mph  in  a  30  zone.  Yeah,  I  know.  It  sounds  bad,  but  wait.  There’s  more.  I’m  100  yards  away  from  the  40  zone.  I’m  being  preyed  upon  here.  It’s  a  load  of  shit.

Oh,  and  the  Officer?

It’s  fucking,  Drew!

So  remember  kids.  Life  is   unfair.  And  reality  sucks.  And  your  sort-of  ex-boyfriend  will  become  a  cop  to  make  a  law-breaker  out  of  you.

You’re  welcome.
